28. ASHEVILLE, NC

(Alert! Start with Day 1 of our “30 Days x 30 Cities” blog series to follow this trip from the start)

With it's perfect ratio of hippies to high-society, Asheville is perhaps one of the more well-known cities in the Carolinas. Less than two hours from our doorstep (speeding slightly), it also makes for both a pleasant day trip and a final cross-country stop.

Yet, while it allowed us to milk a few more hours out of our 30 x 30 expedition, the real reason for stopping through this storied city was to take a tour of French Broad Chocolates new factory.

Tormented by an unrelenting bean to bar fever, we've missed the opportunity to check out the action during our last few visits. Well, I'm happy to report that we finally made the time to tour the new facility and sample the best of their batches.
